SIMPLE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR MAC OS USERS
OS X 10+ ships with a Java Runtime. The Runtime may be 1.3 so you have to upgrate to version 1.4. OS X 10.1+ includes Web Start as well.
The version on your system may be Java Runtime 1.3 So update to 1.4 or higher from http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/softwareupdates.htmlor get it directly from http://www.apple.com/java/
Prior to OS X you are out of luck because Apple doesn't offer Java 2 Runtimes for download; only Java 1 Runtimes (called MJR 2.2.x) are available. Note, Apple has no plan to provide a Java 2 Runtime for older Mac OS. he only option left is upgrading your OS. Read more here http://developer.apple.com/java/index.htm
Older versions can get java updates http://developer.apple.com/java/index.html
There are two different files. Download one of then 1. JIP or JIPL (Takes the systems Look and Feel) 2. JIPW or JipLF (This uses the Jip look and feel the ash colour)
A. Download one of them Now after downloading the file that suites you, unzip it into a directory.
B. Run the program by double clicking on it.
